Am placing this on all pages. Im in a situation and would appreciate good legal advice..... I received some puppies from a Grabouw squatter area last month via a volunteer working in that area - no paperwork was handed in, but I couldnt turn the puppies away. I kept 3 of which a foster home was found. The remaining 3 went to another organisation. Had the puppies not been brought to us for veterinary care, they would have died as they were parasite infested (internally as well as externally) and weak from malnutrition etc. They were duly vaccinated (twice already), dewormed, treated for sarcoptic mange and so on. We placed their photos on facebook in an attempt at finding suitable homes. Some chap from the township saw the photos on facebook, printed them and has run off to the police to lay charges of theft, claiming they are his, that they were stolen by the volunteer. The detective is very sure that I will have to return the 3 puppies to him as I have received (unknowingly) according to him, stolen property. Ive been insistent that I will not return them without proof of ownership. He tells me that its not up to me to decide if they are his or not and that the Court will make the call and then issue me with instruction to return them. I have no say in the matter and have to by law, comply. What now? The welfare can most certainly not afford legal fees for this and I dont think my children or my ex will be too happy at the thought of me getting locked up for contempt of court. Whats more is, even if I stand my ground, I cant expect the rest of my staff to take my stance. PS. I am the GM at AWS Helderberg
