Am shaking and have tears in my eyes after watching this video on my newsfeed about my facebook friend Athar Yad Ali that his wife Shaista Ali Khan (also my fb friend) posted showing their familys heart-pounding, super dangerous, very unbelievable but VERY real life experience on a major highway (M 2) through the mountains between Lahore and Islamabad, Pakistan. The actual video, filmed by her young son and posted on Shaistas timeline has already gone viral and has been viewed 406,441 times and shared 20, 227 times!! Because you can hear what an incredible family this is. The screams of the children calling out to their father with love and deep panic during the last 30 seconds of the video are bone chilling, the way the entire family runs out onto the highway as they try to stop their father from getting killed himself is just admirable!!! And Shaistas own Ya Allah as she sees her husband almost die makes me get goosebumps. Each member of this family loves each other and they are not afraid to show it!!! Brother Athar Yad Alis act of bravery as he runs onto the highway to get into a fully loaded, 22 wheeler DRIVER-LESS truck as it crisscrosses crazily across the highway to stop it before it crashes into other cars is too impressive--but even more impressive is how he morally guides his family and children right there during a crisis. When his son tells him the massive truck behind them is driving strangely, he tells him to keep an eye on it and to video tape it. As the son sees both the driver and his co-driver jump out of the truck he yells out that there is no driver in the truck. He pleads and begs his father to drive faster to escape and to save themselves from danger. What does Athar Yad Ali - Hero do? He slows down. He knows that he cannot leave this situation and drive away like the other cars were. He knows that when help is needed, one has to be a part of the solution. Not run for ones own life and just ignore the fact that OTHERS could get killed even if he and his family survive. The children laugh out loud nervously when they see the truck crash the median and this deeply spiritual father yells in shock even as the crisis unfolds: Dont laugh!!! May Allah forgive you!!! Then he begins praying out loud as he watches the scene play out in his rear view mirror and says, Oh Allah make the truck stop!! oh Allah make the truck stop!! And when he prays out loud, he tells them, Now watch it WILL stop! Now watch it WILL stop. He shows his children his deep faith. That when you call out to God, He listens. One must watch and wait for His Response. And know that when Allah Hears, He Guides us to let Him work through US. As Athar Yad Ali sees it slow down, he realizes that Allah swt has now allowed him to be a part of the solution and he takes the matter into his own hands and he runs out onto that highway and gets into that truck to stop it himself. It was truly Allah swt that gave him that sense of conviction despite his loved ones telling him not to risk his life or telling him that he could never succeed. His son yells out, Papa look at your weight and look at the trucks weight!! When the news reporter (in the attached link) asks him what made him feel that he could do this when he had never even driven a truck in his life, brother Athar replies that he just knew he could do it. This is how God gives us true strength. It is a belief, no matter how unrealistic, that all will be well. No matter how scared he was, he knew God would be with him to help him accomplish this act of bravery. And look at how he succeeded against all odds. He entered inside the truck through the passenger side and was unable to sit in the drivers seat because of all the debris that had fallen inside the truck. So he maneuvered the steering wheel from that position and tried the breaks, the gears. And while that speeding monstrous truck thundered down the slope, he carefully guided it to grind against the median continuously, delicately until it finally stopped after 2 heart-stopping kilometres. All this while his family ran after him on that highway with the video still recording the sons frantic footsteps and screams. Subhanallah!!! This is how a parent teaches their children to be socially, morally and spiritually conscious. This is how a man puts his own life at risk to make the world safer for others. This is how someone considers the lives of others more precious than himself or his own familys. And they say Muslims kill others. No....Muslims are taught by their faith, to SAVE others!!! Brother Yad Ali, today you have not only increased my faith in goodness but you have truly lived up to your name and made me really remember the one who was called Yadullah, the hand of Allah, Imam Ali (a.s) and the Holy Prophet (saww) and his blessed, pure progeny (a.s) Allah swt truly works through human beings. And he works through His chosen ones. You were chosen to be there that day and God inspired you to do what you did.
