Amazing Good News - New Year Story - Introducing the Redcliffe Bin Babies! ......a bit of a long one so maybe grab a cuppa or a drink and have a seat On the date of around the 21/12/14 we got an urgent post on our Facebook page from a lady named Jenny saying Hi, there is a mother cat and 4 kittens at a shop in Redcliffe who desperately need saving as 2 of the kittens have just been found in the rubbish bin. Is there anyone up that way available to try and catch the mother and the remaining kittens? The kittens needed help desperately could we help rescue them? Well of course we could! Jenny had already kindly taken 2 kittens home with her after pulling them out of the bin. However this still left a scared little mama and her 2 babies in need of saving. This particular rescue posed a lot of logistical and timing problems with only mere days left til Christmas! The baby kittens and their mama were living under a large inaccessible metal container. Mum cat was believed to have been dumped and she had been dependent on the kindness of some of the business owners to give her food to help sustain her little family. One of whom was Maggie from Under the Verandah Café. The situation required immediate and urgent action from The Not Forgotten Ones Animal Rescue as time was not on our side. With these babies lives at dire risk they needed rescuing and fast! To add a spanner to the works the kittens and mama cat where wary of humans and very frightened which made them extremely difficult and complicated to catch! So ensued an urgent call out and frenzied networking with fellow rescue groups who pointed us in the right direction to experienced local trapper Anita from Cartmills Animal Rescue. With a phone call Anita jumped straight to the task without hesitation. After a number of days of constant surveillance (sometimes into the very late hours of the night) and with the help of her young grandson, we finally had our precious catch! Anita travelled every night to the location to check and to ensure they were safe and had food and water before all were rescued. Now thats dedication Anita you legend! We then needed a foster in Redcliffe, now as fate would have it a lovely local Redcliffe lass named Georgia wanted to foster some kittens and wallah! We now had our foster carer in place! Meanwhile a little twist occurred when fate intervened again with 2 x 12 day old wild babies being found in a bush and no mum in site by Anita. Well these newborn babies needed a mamma and fast, if they were to have the best chance of survival. So our bin mamma was offered these two newborn sweet ginger babes to see if she would hopefully take to them. Well within no time she was cleaning, feeding and loving on them as if they were her very own. So people it does indeed sometimes take an entire village and in this case 3 caring everyday people ( Jenny, Maggie, Georgia)and 4 rescue groups ( The Not Forgotten Ones, Tigerleigh Rescue, Silver Lining Rescue and Cartmills ) to rescue and raise a fur child or two or in this case Seven fur children! as mama is estimated to be only 9 months old and just a kitten herself. 7 lives were saved in this challenging but highly rewarding and successful rescue! Just goes to show what a weird, wild and wonderful thing animal rescue can sometimes be. Rescues such as these dont always have happy endings, but this one did so I thought I would share it with you, so you know what goes on behind the scenes. Also the difference that a few kind, caring and loving people can make xoxo Now with much ado everyone meet the Redcliffe Bin Babies != Pictured are The Four Bin Baby Brothers Tom and Jerry (black and grey smoke Tabbies) and Max little Grey boy and the very gorgeous black green eyed boy little Timmy. You can see in one of the pics at the very back the large metal shipping container the kittens were living under. Also pictured is mama cat Maggie (named by Anita in Maggie from Under The Verandah Cafes Honour) and her new gorgeous 3 week old adopted ginger babes. All are available for pre- adoption to be taken home after Vet work is done and they get to a good healthy size. We and the foster carers have some feeding up and loving to do as they are still a little shy. But arent they just gorgeous?! Our next step will be to get these babies vet worked and adopted This will cost us in excess of $1000 including food, litter, vet work, and flea treatment and medications required to raise them until they can be adopted. At the moment our kitty (excuse the pun is almost empty, with us recently having rescued 26 babies from the pound we are stretched with this additional 7. If you would like to help with the cost of helping the very beautiful and very lucky bin babies. Please make a donation to account name: A B Grabbe-Clare-Nazer, Suncorp Bank BSB - 484 799 and Account number: 60 229 4087 thank you with Bin Babies as the reference or alternatively a PayPal payment can be made to email address biancancer@hotmail. Redcliffe locals can also drop any donations off in an envelope for the bin babies to Maggie at The Under The Verandah Café at Woody Point on our behalf. If you have a little or a lot to give we would be very grateful and much appreciated as every $1 counts. If in the case we raise over the amount any extra will go to an emergency fund to help other fur kids in need. Thank you so much for reading, caring and sharing, love and whisker kisses of course hope you enjoyed the purrfect story from Bianca @ The Not Forgotten Ones Animal Rescue.
