Amazing Paid Meetings/Events Internship - Chance to learn just about every aspect of planning a 2,400 person conference. ASNR Annual Meeting Internship Opportunity Society Overview/Position Description The American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) is a professional membership society comprised of over 4,200 physicians specializing in the field of neuroradiology. The ASNR holds one annual meeting per year, typically during the months of April/May. Total meeting attendance averages 2,400 registrants, with physician attendance comprising approximately 75% of that total. International registration makes up about 15% of total registration. The ASNR Annual Meeting offers programmatic representation in the subspecialties of neuroradiology including head and neck radiology, pediatric neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, and spine radiology. Each respective subspecialty holds specific days of programming during the week. Subspecialty programming days rotate annually. In addition to attending an intensive scientific program, registrants are able to view comprehensive scientific, poster, and computer (interactive) presentations, as well as, attend a technical (commercial) exhibitor display. Attendees are also given the opportunity to participate in various social activities and optional events offered throughout the meeting. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Temporary Meetings Intern LENGTH OF PROJECT: Flexible schedule with approximately 15 - 25 hours Some weekend work required (February through May 2014) (internship to begin early-October 2013 through mid-May 2014) HOURLY RATE: $10.00/per hour PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist with the housing and advance registration duties of 2,000+ annual meeting • Assist with logistics for programming efforts including workshops and work groups for annual meeting • Assist with faculty and speaker meeting travel arrangements and communications, etc. • Additional tasks involve direct phone, fax and email follow-up with physician members; attendees; program speakers/faculty; meeting exhibitors/sponsors, etc. • Participate in pre-meeting vendor and volunteer planning meetings • Participate in program development meetings for the ASNR 2014 Annual Meeting • Assist with abstract management and invited speaker/faculty registration and program material follow-up • Assist with annual meeting website review and updates, as needed • Assist with development of signage orders and various logistic responsibilities for annual meeting • Assist with meeting shipment preparations • General department filing and administrative duties • Other responsibilities, as assigned REQUIREMENTS: Ability to manage a number of projects, simultaneously in busy work environment. Strong customer service, organizational and administrative skills. Individual with emphasis on customer service possessing pleasant phone manner and excellent interpersonal skills to work with membership, staff and contractors. It is practiced in hospital settings, academic/educational institutions, and private practice. The ASNR is headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, a near-western suburb of Chicago. The ASNR is comprised of 17 full-time professional staff members. The Society also publishes the American Journal of Neuroradiology (AJNR), a monthly medical journal.
