Amazing day at the Animal Medical Center learning about pet rehabilitation. A few things I was happy to learn: 1) The rehab department at the AMC is doing such great work, with incredible outcomes, incorporating alternative therapies such as acupuncture with more traditional therapies such as passive range of motion and strengthening exercises. 2) More and more specialists in veterinary medicine are exploring non-surgical/non-traditional approaches to the treatment of orthopedic injuries (understanding that there will always be cases where surgery is the gold standard of care). 3) Studies consistently show that my favorites, Omega 3 fatty acids and avocado/soy unsaponifiables, really work. :)
