Amazing feel good story: Today I met a woman who is a client at Hilltop Animal Hospital. She had the cutest and sweetest little tan and white chihuahua with her...of course I stopped to pet her and the woman tells me her house burned down in June of this year and all of her animals ran away. She found all of them except the little chihuahua. Then by chance her daughter saw a picture of the dog on Facebook...not on a rescue site or a lost and found site, but just a persons page. Her daughter recognized the dog and contacted her mother, who contacted the people who had posted a photo of the dog. Remember this has been since June, three months ago! She picked up the dog today and brought her straight to her veterinarian -- lots if fleas and scratches but was just such a happy dog. The woman was overwhelmed with emotion and it touched my heart to hear her story and meet her dog. She never gave up looking! So if you find a dog, please do not assume it was dumped - could belong to someone! Make fliers, post on Facebook to any lost and found site like Gainesville Pet Finder, and notify the local animal shelter and humane society, as well as local veterinary clinics, groomers, boarding facilities, etc. So happy for this woman and her dog!!
