Amazing team effort drives clean up for illegal Hudson River dump site. First, Riverkeeper received a tip about the mess from a kayaker in the upper Hudson town of Queensbury, NY. Next, thanks to social networking and community spirit, a group of volunteers and town officials rolled up their sleeves and spent two days cleaning the site. Finally, Riverkeeper contacted the State DEC, which opened an investigation. Anyone with info about this crime should call 518-897-1326. There were dozens of stories like this in 2014 thanks to volunteers, civic groups and public officials who just refuse to let the Hudson slide back into the polluted state it suffered through in past decades.
