Ambassador Bruce Wharton today officially handed over the first batch of 15 15 prefabricated Opportunistic Infection/Antiretroviral Treatment (OI/ART) /Porta Cabins/clinics to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) officials at Tsungubvi Clinic in Glendale (Mashonaland Central) on Friday. Under the project, which is funded by the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), 150 prefabricated buildings will be procured and deployed nationwide. This important initiative provides additional clinic space in line with the MOHCC’s decentralization program. Each Porta Cabin has space for consultation, counselling, and a pharmacy and is equipped with basic furnishings for lighting and hand washing. The building design and site selection have been a collaborative effort of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Zimbabwe, MOHCC national and provincial leadership, Ministry of Public Works, and Ministry of Finance.
