Ambassadör Bachmans svar: Aftonbladet strikes again ====================== In today´s Aftonbladet editorial, signed Somar al Naher, the author describes how in 2008 she was denied entry into the State of Israel. This is reason enough for Naher – a Swedish citizen and not an Israeli – to claim that she has been subjected to Apartheid in Israel and that Israel is an Apartheid state. It should be noted that given the vast and ongoing terrorism against Israel, our airports are highly secured and there are procedures for questioning incoming passengers where a reason is seen to do so. Indeed, the Israeli airport security system has been studied and copied by many nations of the world as a model from a professional point of view. With all due respect to Somar Al Naher – and to Aftonbladet – it is outrageous to define a country as an Apartheid state based on nothing but a purely personal and subjective experience, and whether one gets permission to enter the country or not. Also Sweden – like all other countries – has regulations to decide who can enter. The meaning of Apartheid is treating differently different citizens of the same country for no justifiable reason. The purely private and subjective experiences of Somar Al Maher when not gaining entry to Israel as a foreign visitor in no way justifies the absurd accusations she makes against the State of Israel. It is very unfortunate but hardly surprising, that Aftonbladet, a leading newspaper in Sweden - takes the liberty to publish an editorial – not just a news item – with such a slanderous, malicious and deliberately misleading content.
