Amber writes, I know you already had one vaccine related question today on the wall, and I dont mean to overwhelm people on this topic, but I have a question Im genuinely seeking information on. We have a six year old who has never been ill with anything but a common cold, and has also never received a single vaccine. We implement many things to boost immunity (including, but not limited to exclusive breastfeeding in the first 10-12 months, with full term human milk, etc.). However, we are now about to have another baby and I am wondering what other families in this position have done when baby #2 comes along. I had always previously planned to selectively vaccinate after the age of 5 (when the brain and immune system have completed the majority of their development) merely to decrease the potential for an older child to bring home something that could be detrimental to an infant. Now I am not feeling comfortable with this either. I am quite well read on the subject of vaccinations and the diseases they correlate with, as well as immunity boosting, but I would love to hear from families who have or have not chosen to vaccinate older children when babies are born into the family. Do you feel your decision had any bearing on the health of your baby? Would you do the same again? Reading on this aspect of wellness in particular as it pertains to siblings? Thank you for any insight you can provide.
