Ambition report 27th. October 14 ------------------------------------------- This week-end started off as a quiet one with no work on I was enjoying a couple of ales at the club with some of our more memorable members. We were l reminiscing over the sudden death of one of the more colourful members, Nick (Buster) Hanslow who over the years attained quite a record fishing with Mick Doyle on City Slicka and catching either the first or last Marlin of the season, both being very prestigious trophies in the Sydney Game Fishing Club. Coincidently I had been talking to Peter (Pakula) about his new range of lures called Shredders and he sent me down some samples to give him some feed back. Well the weather on Sunday was looking too good to pass up so we decided to have a commemorative day for Buster and see if we could catch the first Marlin of this season for Micky and have a few beers to boot. The day was stunning as we headed off on Sunday. With the new lures set we trolled around 12 mile a couple of times down around the Plonk hole then out to the shelf and around Browns where the water was cooling so it was back to the shelf and zig-zag up to the Bait Station. As we moved over the shelf the further North we went the warmer it was getting, not indicated on any chart by the way. Anyway on my third zag the port rigger with the size 25 Shredder screamed off. The fish didnt show itself but I could see the fish flashing flashes so initially I thought wed found the Yellowfin. It seemed to take ages but the line started moving up and the Striped Marlin showed itself - we all looked on in awe as it tore the ocean apart then went down again. It took nearly 45 minute and some good solid work from Mick before we got the fish to the boat and tagged it. It was congratulations all round and another couple of Beers to Nick. I think he enjoyed watching Micky do some work on the rod for a change... Here is a short video of the action... youtu.be/FxDEJSshETg ambitioncharters.au Tight lines, __________________ Ivan
