Immunity Against Tough Times James 5:11 serves as a powerful reminder to us as we face inevitable seasons of suffering in our lives, You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. When we go through challenges, we must recognize that God has a purpose for us through that time of trial. And we need to hold on to the truth that He has not abandoned us; regardless how dire and hopeless the situation may seem! Gods purpose for allowing difficulties to afflict our lives is for our greater good; He wants your trials to develop within you a stronger character of faith, perseverance and total surrender to Him. My little boy Dayan sometimes catches the flu. And as an anxious daddy, I have a tendency to want our family doctor to immediately prescribe medicine for Dayan so that he can get well and feel better as quickly as possible. However, she often doesnt want to prescribe anything at all! Theres no need. Let him fight it off, she would say. You need to let him develop immunity against illnesses. In the same way, if God met every one of our challenges with an immediate antidote, our faith would not be stretched; we would never be able to develop the immunity we need to stand against tough times! We can only grow stronger when we decide to trust in Gods Word even in the midst of suffering and pain. As Paul writes in Romans 8:24-25, For why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Prayer for the day: Heavenly Father, I will follow Your plans and purposes for my life, even if it means facing challenges and trials.
