Amendments proposed in the Hindu Religious Institutions and - TopicsExpress

Amendments proposed in the Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act. India is a secular state.Government is not expected to interfere in the religious affairs of any religion. State should treat all religions equally. Maladministration, misappropriation and internecine differences are not confined to Hindu institutions only. They are common to institutions of all religions. It is difficult to understand as to why the State Government wants power to interfere only in Hindu Institutions in such eventualities. If the Government is sincere such provisions should be applicable to institutions of all religions. Normal law and Judiciary are now taking care of such eventualities. As such the proposed amendments amount to unwarranted interference and gross discrimination.Government can and should desist from this move at least at this stage.Religious associations of various communities like Brahman Mahasabha,Veerashaiva Mahasabha, Kurubar Sangha, etc. should wake up and arrange for extensive discussions regarding this issue and take a fair stand to uphold the provisions of our Constitution in letter and spirit. 2. State Government has enough carcasses in its plate like rampant corruption, nepotism, maladministration, poor implementation of schemes, extortion, illegal acquisition of wealth by persons in power, bankrupt PSUs,unimaginable leakage of revenues due to Government and mismanagement of government resources etc.Almost everyday scandals of the State Government are being unearthed and broadcast in visual and print media. Why the State Government should not focus on setting its own house in order?
