America is great, because America is good. America will only cease to be great, when America ceases to be good. I give this a thumbs up. I like it. So many folks are not taught about the history of America and how it began. Just a small summary. America was a British colony, there was no Congress, President, or Constitution. It belonged to England. The Mother Country. England had ran up a huge War debt and made the big wrong decision to tax the Colonies. As then as of now, Americans do not like taxes. England took the attitude, phooey on you, better somebody else pay than them. So, everybody got mad, and when Americans get mad they fight. A revolt began in 1775, some shooting and killing took place in Boston, and Concord and Lexington. This united the opposition of 13 places, called states. They put together a Congress of men, no women, just men and wrote up a document saying Independence from The mother Country. England sorta laughed to itself and was thinking, we are the most powerful country and richest and baddest in the world we will send a few special hired out militants over there and show them a thing or two. So, the Revolution began, America fight for freedom, and Englands fight to strut there stuff, and knock them around a little bit. Ol Ben Franklin from Philidelphia and Tom Jefferson a southern boy from Virginia wrote a Declaration of Independence, all the members of Congress signed it and mailed it off to the King of England. No turning back now, it was freedom or die. America had something of an Army, no money, but they wanted it, and they were going to get it. Ol Ben Franklin shipped off to France to get them to lend the. Movement a hand. It worked, supplies, and money, and support just wore the British down. At Yorktown, General George Washington gave British General Cornwallis a thump on the rump, and he said, peace with honor. And it settled things for a while. America gained its freedom and became the United States. Team USA. And we like it. Never to ever fail, always and forever let freedom ring. Oh, beautiful for spacious skys, and Amber waves of grain.
