America needs you to champion for 3rd Parties! Just like getting petition signatures for ballot access for 3rd Parties, it doesnt matter your party affiliation, you can help with this! Please donate to assist CPD lawsuit: https://ouramericainitiative/presidential-debate-commission.html Please sign petition for debate access: https://ouramericainitiative/petition-presidential-debates.html Third parties should not have roadblocks put in front of them for ballot access and debates! Ballot access is being fought state to state. Our America Initiative is fighting for debate access! Since 2012, Our America Initiative has had a lawsuit against the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) for blocking 3rd Party access. Republicans and Democrats run this commission and have vowed to keep 3rd Parties out since Ross Perot did so great as a 3rd Party candidate. The lawsuit has been moved from Los Angeles, California to Washington D.C. and is now in the discovery phase. Donations for this endeavor is greatly appreciated and will help all 3rd Parties. In 2012, the public urged CPD to change their stance. Letters were ignored. CPD would not make a statement. This process is broken! We should not have just two parties highlighted in our media, polls, and debates in a Presidential run. The League of Women Voters denounced this organization! Three sponsors left in 2012 because of their actions: BBH NY, Philips Electronice N America, and YWCA! What is the CPD? The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is a NONPROFIT accepted by Democrats and Republicans to broker and set up US presedential debates. Not accepted by 3rd Parties! Who is in the Commission? Kirk, Jr. Directors Howard G. Buffett John C. Danforth John Griffen Antonia Hernandez Rev. John L. Jenkins Newton N. Minow Richard D. Parsons Dorothy Ridings Alan K. Simpson Who sponsors the Commission? 2012 National Sponsors: Anheuser-Busch Companies The Howard G. Buffett Foundation Sheldon S. Cohen, Esq. Crowell & Moring LLP International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) The Kovler Fund Southwest Airlines These were the requirements to debate: 1. EVIDENCE OF CONSTITUTIONAL ELIGIBILITY The CPDs first criterion requires satisfaction of the eligibility requirements of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. The requirements are satisfied if the candidate: a. is at least 35 years of age; b. is a Natural Born Citizen of the United States and a resident of the United States for fourteen years; and c. is otherwise eligible under the Constitution. 2. EVIDENCE OF BALLOT ACCESS The CPDs second criterion requires that the candidate qualify to have his/her name appear on enough state ballots to have at least a mathematical chance of securing an Electoral College majority in the 2012 general election. Under the Constitution, the candidate who receives a majority of votes in the Electoral College, at least 270 votes, is elected President regardless of the popular vote. 3. INDICATORS OF ELECTORAL SUPPORT The CPDs third criterion requires that the candidate have a level of support of at least 15% (fifteen percent) of the national electorate as determined by five selected national public opinion polling organizations, using the average of those organizations most recent publicly-reported results at the time of the determination. debates.org/index.php?page=candidate-selection-process Gary Johnson had #1 and #2. #3 was not attained because the pollers did not put Gary Johnson on the polls. CPD also decides which polls they will use or not use. Here were Gary Johnsons 2012 polls... National: Pulse Aug 8 24% LASPAC Aug 2 19% Rasmussen Aug 25 16% Reason-Rupe Sep 21 6% JZ Analytics Jul 5.3% Even averaging these, Gary Johnson would be at 14.26% !!! With great advocacy, campaigners tried to get Gary Johnson on the national polls. Many polls did not have his name in them throughout his running. Many polls did not have his name on them, even though he was on the ballots and was not a write in candidate. These polls show that people did want someone OTHER than Pres Obama/Gov Romney: CBS News/NYT July 16 Other 7% USA Today/Gallop June 29 Something other 8% Politico Sep 21 Other 7% Fox News Aug 9th Something other 11% More State polls: Gravis Sep 21 - 10.6% in Ohio Siena Aug 7 - 13% in battleground states PPP Aug 13% in New Mexico, 9% in Arizona, 7% in Colorado, 7% in New Hampshire, 8% in Montana Reason-Rupe Oct 11 - 2% in California Star Tribune Sep 17 - 5% in Minnesota Governor Gary Johnson was exceptionally successful in campaigning without the financial support as the other political parties, but he was blocked by criteria that was unattainable at the time. These are roadblocks that only effect third parties. - Gary Johnson was on 48 of 50 ballots in the U.S. - He received enough fundraising to get federal matching funds - He gained exceptional support from Ron Paul supporters, but was not polled yet - He only got a lot of national media attention within the last few weeks - He showed exceptional support on Twitter - He showed exceptional support at his campaign events With great advocacy, campaigners tried to get Gary Johnson on the national polls. Many polls did not have his name in them throughout his running. Many polls did not have his name on them, even though he was on the ballots and was not a write in candidate. In 2012, there were several parties on many ballots, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, and the Independent Party. They should not be shut out of debates over polls by private organizations that they are not on. Again, the 3rd Party candidates were not on enough national polls and a candidates debating should not have to do with private polls. Standby for Twitter and Facebook campaigns and writing campaigns. We can write the President to end this undemocratic voting process. We can write the CPD members to change the requirements. We can write the CPD sponsors and get them to denounce the CPD and the process. We can get more people to stand up for 3rd Party access. This needs to be changed before 2016.
