#AmericaToday #thoughts Symantec corporation have reported their discovery of the malware known as Regin. The malware has a very sophisticated and complex architecture, is extremely difficult to hack, so there’s a suggestion that a nation state is likely responsible for its creation. This malware can remain undetected for several years in a system, and even if it is detected, its not always possible to specify its activity. Many components of Regin are still probably undiscovered. What can Regin do? It is a powerful framework for mass surveillance. The malware used as an advanced spying tool for intelligence and data collection operations: - Capturing and transmitting passwords, capturing screenshots - Remote control of your system - Recovering deleted files - Monitoring network traffic etc. Regin infections were found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Mexico, India, Ireland and Belgium. No infections were reported in the United States, Israel or Britain, which are three countries with highly developed cyber espionage capabilities. Also, there is a possibility that Symantec withheld information on real situation in the US. Billions have been spent to better protect U.S. computer systems. There are reports of Russian and Chinese governments likely behind widespread cyberespionage that has hit targets in the US and elsewhere. The news comes amid heightened concerns on cyberespionage.
