American Council of Life Insurers Cheers Passage of Capital Standards Legislation (Washington, D.C. – Insurance News and Markets) - The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) applauded the passage of capital standards legislation in December. ¬“ACLI and its member companies welcome the signing into law of the Insurance Capital Standards Clarification Act,” said Dirk Kempthorne, President and CEO of ACLI. “We urge the Fed to use the flexibility provided in the new law to develop standards that work in the best interest of the American consumer.” Approved by both parties in Congress, this measure makes the Federal Reserve Board’s authority a little clearer when it comes to insurance-based capital standards for insurance companies that the Federal Reserve Board supervises.
