American Councils (ACTR/ACCELS) is looking for Education USA Adviser. (Position open to Kazakhstan citizens. Submit cover letter and resume to accels@americancouncils-kz. The deadline for applications is January 12, 2015. ) American Councils administers programs for the U.S. Department of State and other U.S. Federal agencies which include academic exchange, professional training, curriculum and materials development. Summary of Position: The EducationUSA Adviser in Almaty will be responsible for services to users in Almaty, as well as national-level outreach via electronic and other means. The EducationUSA Adviser will work closely with the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Almaty, and other EducationUSA Centers in Kazakhstan. The EducationUSA adviser will receive formal training, and will be eligible to participate in national and international conferences/trainings. Responsibilities include: Conducting workshops and presentations related to access to U.S. higher education (for example: application preparation; fields of study information; U.S. admissions testing, how to write a statement of purpose) Responding to inquiries and correspondence related to study in the U.S.; Building recognition of EducationUSA with key representatives of local and regional universities and government, Providing advice and services to US universities related to recruitment and study-abroad for Kazakhstan students; Organizing university fairs and school visits for U.S. universities to connect them with interested students; Delivering pre-departure orientations and linking future students, current students, and alumni; Handling all logistical issues such as securing locations, preparing materials, and contacting participants for seminars, meetings, testing, etc.; Preparing reports for submission to stakeholders, organizing and maintaining files on reports and presentations; Acting as grants manager for the Opportunity Grants Program; Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of the U.S. higher education system gained from participation in a U.S.-based degree or non-degree academic study program at the higher education level lasting not less than one semester; University degree in a related area; Experience teaching or advising students; Program administration experience; Experience with social networking, innovative outreach, presentations, and marketing/promotion; Strong writing and communication skills in English and local languages; Demonstrated organizational ability; Ability to manage multiple priorities quickly and effectively; Effective interpersonal skills; Availability for travel, and work after regular working hours and on weekends.
