American Drivers Headed to Australia for Final World Challenge Qualifier ~ McCarl, McFadden And Green Join Classic Entries! Warnambool, VIC AU | Jan. 9, 2015 - Terry McCarl has made six Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic A-Mains from six starts, James McFadden has won just about every race in Australia with the exception being the Classic, and it is now nearly 18 years since Trevor Green triumphed during the day to claim his Classic win. All three are now locked and loaded for another tilt at Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic fame as the latest batch of nominations is announced. McCarl has for the past two years been the talent at the wheel of the Colin Bulmer owned V2 machine will this year team up with Downing Brothers Racing to campaign the distinctive S97 entry. Having expressed a strong desire to again compete at the Classic McCarl as always will be one of the star attractions with his track knowledge and experience a key factor in his amazing strike rate at this event. A record eighth Huset’s Speedway track title highlighted the 2014 season for Terry McCarl. The Altoona, Iowa based driver also finished a close second in the track championship at Knoxville Raceway behind eventual winner Ian Madsen. The competition at both tracks was arguably at the highest level ever seen. Over the course of the season, TMAC recorded thirteen top tens and five top fives in just twenty features with the World of Outlaws. “We had a good year with the Outlaws,” he says. “We skipped Tucson, or we were going to be in the top five in Outlaw points heading to California. We had a sponsor commitment in Las Vegas. We just had a lot of great finishes with them. We would have liked to have picked off another win, but it was a good year.” For his seventh visit to the Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic McCarl will enjoy the support of Mainline Dynalog Dynamometers, Moore Mechanical, Regency Shower Screens and Bayaire Industries. Trevor Green is another of the former Classic Champions who keeps finding his way back to Warrnambool each and every Australia Day Long Weekend. The 1997 Classic Champion has enjoyed some strong performances in recent seasons at Sungold Stadium with his Easter Trail form in particular being very solid. The 2014 Classic also produced a great performance from Green, with a third place finish on his qualifying night, backed up by a very solid run into fourth place during the Classic final. For his 2015 Classic campaign Green will team up with legendary Sydney based car owner Barry Lewis. The NSW11 team will come to the Classic with the support of ADRAD Radiators, Australia Wide Towing, Freightmaster Semi Trailers, Harrop Engineering, Butlerbuilt Professional Seat Systems, Protec Paints, LPS, Maxwill Racing Engines, Vin’s Mini Buses, SA Motorcycles, Slapps Imported Japanese Cars, Steve Wickes and Sons Powder Coaters and Green Welding. The depth of the up and coming talent in the Australian Sprintcar ranks is second to none and one of the brightest stars on the rise over the past five or six seasons has been James McFadden. McFadden seems to have been around forever, with two Australian Championships under his belt and a raft of amazing performances both here in Australia and also in the United States demonstrating his talents at the wheel of a race car. The Classic however is one race that McFadden has yet to be able to check off his bucket list, which highlights just how tough it is to claim the $30,000.00 winners cheque. No doubt James will be one of the stars of the show again in 2015 with his driving style appealing to fans of all ages. The team will leave nothing to chance and again with the support of Scott Milling, RMGH, Daniel & Son, Totally Work Wear, Lucas Oil, XYZ, All-star Performance and Westralian Diamond Drillers they will provide McFadden with a fast car. Joining McCarl, Green and McFadden in the line up will be James’ teammate Taylor Milling who continues to improve meeting by meeting. Again with the support of Totally Work Wear and Westralian Diamond Drillers, Milling will be looking to improve on his 15th place in B-Main 1 in 2014. Two 2014-15 World Series Sprintcars contracted drivers in Matt Egel and Darren Jensen are also amongst the latest round of drivers to commit to Classic duty. Egel, has for some time now, been a threat to the sports biggest names whether it is in his own equipment or that of his car owner Matt Muir and the Muir Motorsports team. This fact was highlighted on December 27, when Egel claimed the win in round 2 of World Series Sprintcars Speedweek at Murray Bridge. Egel will also take a huge dose of confidence from his 9th place finish in the Sunday night A-Main of the 2014 Classic. MMS Civil of Western Australia, South West Conveyancing, Warrnambool and the National Karate Academies will provide the support for Muir Motorsports and Matt Egel as he goes in search of a maiden Classic win. Darren Jensen is no stranger to travelling the country in search of all the big events having been a regular on the World Series Sprintcars tour. With the support of Ken and Wendy McNamara and KRE Race Engines, Cometic Thermal Edge Coatings, BHR Fabrications and Valvoline the likable Queenslander will be back from another crack at the Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. Be sure to keep an eye on what is one very sharp looking Q75 entry right throughout the Classic week. Another of the drivers with talent to burn is Sydney’s Troy Little who in 2015 will campaign the Steve Lynch owned N98 car. Little is another who is a regular visitor to Warrnambool around Classic time and will come with the backing of Blayney Pit Stop, Rick Murray Excavations, Coates Hire, Bribbaree Smash and Steve Bayliss MC. The latest round of nominations also incudes a healthy contingent of Victorian hard chargers with Adam King set to turn loose his immaculate V48, All Star Graphics and Port City Engines backed machine. King has produced some solid performances of late in the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series and is always one to watch. King will be joined by the Wettenhalls Transport, Cinnibar Bakery, Total Fleet Imaging V51 of Peter Milnes while Quentin Tanner is another of the local Warrnambool based drivers to have entered. Tanner will be aboard the V22 Century 21, Lifestyle Warrnambool, Mugavin Contracting, RnR Contracting, Meehan Race Engines backed entry. The V98 of Peter Doukas will enjoy the strong locally based support of Giblin Family Homes, Keane’s Civil and Plumbing, Warrnambool Locksmith’s Lane Transport, The Tyre Factory and Progress Transport Services as he embarks on his Classic campaign while Daniel Newnham is another to have a number of strong Warrnambool connections as he launches his Classic campaign aboard the Boyle’s Livestock Transport and Couch Contracting backed V19 entry. Finalising the latest batch of entries will be the South Australian based entry of Keke Falland with the former Wingless Sprint racer set to make his Classic debut with the support of Shadetec, Ruston Engineering, Rivergraphics, Schleins Quarries, Frank Brecevic Transport, Loxton Pizza Bar, Castrol, Charlie-Roger and Ken’s Exhausts. With just on a week until nominations close all teams are reminded to get their nominations in as soon as possible to ensure the seeding’s for qualifying nights can be completed.
