It has come to our attention that one of your performers is Roger Waters, an outspoken supporter of the anti-Israel movement, calling for a boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against both the country and its people. This is painful to any number of New Yorkers, as well as others around the nation and world. Over many years Israeli soldiers and citizens have come to know first hand the same experiences shared by the people you serve. Any number of the established techniques in addressing medical and psychological issues that have befallen military heroes around the world have been developed by doctors and scientists in Israel, the very people Mr. Waters wants boycotted in academic and scientific forums around the world. It would be a tragedy to limit the best and brightest from sharing their knowledge and talents with others, because some people believe they are right and others are wrong. Mr. Waters floated a pig at one of his concerts, a pig that had Swastikas and the Star of David on it, showing not only poor taste, but public anti-Semitism. As a nonprofit, we understand the importance of star power at a major event, but with Jon Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld and Bruce Springsteen on hand, is there a reason to have someone who has become so controversial and hurtful to a significant population here in New York? We hope you will reconsider including Mr. Waters in your program and that you continue to do the good work you do on behalf of America’s heroes.
