American Nightmare : 80% of the population of the United States is poor or in the process of becoming Agency American press just pulled the alarm ! According to the results of the survey, 80 % of people in the United States live in poverty . A concern that DGS explains in detail the phenomenon. The Associated Press has revealed some very surprising there a few months survey results , announcing that 80 % of the U.S. population lived in poverty , fighting against unemployment and require government assistance to make ends meet . Among these individuals in difficulty, nearly 50 million live well below the poverty line. The study also showed that the wealth gap between rich and poor was greater than ever. In addition, well-paid industrial jobs that once gave the opportunity for workers to increase their standard of living gradually disappearing. The number of people living below the poverty line does not necessarily reflect the number of unemployed Americans . As measured census published in April 2014 , these 50 million (3 million more than the official government figures ) are also due to health care costs and labor. The new measure is usually considered more reliable by sociologists because it takes into account the income and the effects of government assistance, including food stamps and tax cuts , says Hope Yen , Associated Press journalist . Other revelations say about food stamps helped 5 million people just out of the poverty threshold . This means that the poverty rate is actually higher and that without government support , he would rise from 16% to almost 18. Hispanics and Asian Americans have seen their living standards decline, respectively, from 25.8% to 27.8% and from 11.8% to 16.7% of the population living under the poverty line. African Americans on the other hand , now have a less difficult life (from 27.3 % to 25.8%) , thanks to assistance programs launched by the government . Whites increased from 9.8 % to 10.7 % poor . The main reason that keeps poverty at such a high threshold, is that the benefits of a growing economy are no longer shared by all workers, as was the case in the quarter century following the end of the Second World War , said Sheldon Danziger , an economist at the University of Michigan. Given the current economic circumstances , poverty will continue to spread unless the government comes to the aid of the poorest workers. On the other hand , the U.S. government apparently thinks the answer to the problem is to remove even more services that help 80% of the population who need it most, steadily reducing the amount of food stamps available. Democrats and Republicans are negotiating the exact number of those services that must be removed, but neither party has thought to say that it was unwise not to touch or put others in place. We felt very concerned by this edifying study. We never imagined that so many people lived in such a delicate situation in a country as developed . In France , the problem also arises : the middle class is disappearing and the gap between rich and poor is growing alarmingly . Hopefully one day the governments of the world will reverse the trend to reduce these differences in living standards . Do you feel the effects of this phenomenon on a daily basis ?
