American TV needs to examine itself. After watching three British shows on PBS this evening I was struck by: 1) the lack of extreme violence; 2) the reliance on real-life situations and characters most people can identify with; 3) Actors in prominent roles past the age of 60; 3) A slower pace. Im sick of the increasing violence and scenes of torture in US TV drama; the reliance on youngsters and the need to be perfectly handsome or beautiful; the lack of real characters you experience in real life; a reliance on fantasy and catering for juvenile audiences. Thank goodness for PBS. If Mitt Romney were President it would have been scrapped.
