American anti-war activist Don Debar says Washington’s pressure - TopicsExpress

American anti-war activist Don Debar says Washington’s pressure on Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine shows the United States has a war strategy with Russia. “They have a war strategy sometime over the next few months with Russia and or China and as the consequence of that they don’t care about some economic fallout for Europe or against the dollar,” the activist said in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday. “They have some very specific goals in mind... That is what frightens me right now,” he added. He made the remarks after the US warned Russia not to intervene in Ukraine under “the guise of humanitarian” purposes. In calls with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron on Saturday, US President Barack Obama said any Russian intervention in Ukraine without Kiev’s authorization would “provoke additional consequences,” the White House said. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry warned his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Saturday that Russia should not intervene in Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian convoys or any other pretext of peacekeeping, a senior State Department official said. In a separate discussion Saturday, US Vice President Joe Biden agreed with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that any Russian move in Ukraine, even for humanitarian purposes, would be a violation of international law. “The US is acting in error against its own interests,” Debar said.
