American style BBQ ribs Recipe 2.4 kgs pork spare ribs salt and pepper garlic powder, onion powder (about 1 and 1/2 teaspoon each) For the Sauce: 3 cups of American barbecue sauce sweet baby rays or similar. 1 .5 cup ketchup (not tomato sauce ) 3/4cup packed brown sugar 6 tablespoons red wine vinegar 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 3 teaspoons dried oregano (optional) 1 Tablespoon liquid smoke (if you like a smokey flavor) (optional) dash hot sauce Rub rips with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder Preheat oven to 210 and cook ribs on trays for 15 mins per side, remove from oven and let rest on chopping boards. You can brown the ribs the night before and refrigerate or just before slow cooking. In a medium bowl combine BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, oregano, and liquid smoke and hot sauce if desired. Put as side a desert bowl of sauce and then coat ribs and Place ribs in a large slow cooker at lest 6l I cut mine in 4 s but you can cut them in half if preferred. Pour remaining sauce (not desert bowl you will require this to baste ribs at end) on top and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until tender. Once removed from slow cooker baste ribs with remaining BBQ sauce and either place on hot BBQ for 5 mins per side or Put them in the oven for 15 minutes at 220 Serve with your choice of sides I had roast potatoes, home made coleslaw and corn on the cob.
