Americans Know Better If you believe the mainstream media, America is a center-right nation that supports smaller government and lower taxes. If you believe the pundits, what Americans care about most is the deficit. Its not true. Americans know the rules are rigged (69%), and the rich and special interests have way too much power in Washington (63%).Americans want to raise the minimum wage (72%), rebuild our infrastructure (71%) and make the hedge fund managers and corporations pay their fair share. (68%).Americans want to invest in public education (69%) and for Congress to protect programs that provide help for the most vulnerable (86%).Thats why we created the Populist Majority. Its a new project from Campaign for Americas Future that will present the facts, challenge the media, and arm activists and political leaders with the truth. Recently, we briefed lawmakers about public opinion on trade policy, providing ammunition to allies opposed to bad policies like the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Republicans have gerrymandered their way to winning a 34-seat majority in the House of Representatives in 2012, despite losing by over a million votes. This isn’t about right or left. it’s about a determined few, driven by ideology, trying to drown out the voice of the many. In the war of ideas it is vital that the majority be heard. America is not a center-right or center-left nation. It is a nation where the majoritys voice is not being heard. This is why the Populist Majority is such an important project.
