Americans often take our freedoms for granted. Today, a look at what life would be life without them… The story next…All around the world, free speech is under siege. In some Western nations, the PC police prosecute people for hate speech if they express an unapproved opinion. Meanwhile, in Kuwait, a nation the US went to war to rescue, an opposition politician was sentenced to five years in prison for insulting the ruler. That’s an alleged crime that’s becoming more and more common. And the rise of Islamic governments is making people afraid to speak freely. In Turkey, a court gave classical pianist Fazil Say a 10-month suspended jail sentence for blasphemy because he criticized a mosque leader on Twitter. Prosecutors actually wanted Say to go to prison. Many Turks are alarmed that their once tolerant, secular country is seeing that kind of crackdown on free speech.
