"America’s most-wanted leaker has a backup plan. If anything happens to Edward Snowden, a massive trove of top-secret data will be released to the world — which could hurt US intelligence, sources said. NSA leaker Snowden — who is wanted on espionage charges — has the data backed up and stored in a vault or safe, the sources told the Sunday Times of London. Snowden is believed to have left his laptops in Hong Kong, and has been hiding from law enforcement in a Moscow airport. The confidential files, downloaded from NSA computers, are being held as an “insurance policy”— and if released, they could be devastating to US intelligence agencies. The journalist to whom Snowden leaked the documents said the former NSA contractor confirmed that the files were in good hands. “[Snowden] has taken extreme precautions to make sure many different people around the world have these archives to insure the stories will inevitably be published,” Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald told the Daily Beast."
