Amidst all this frenzy (and its FABULOUS) I have to share a letter that my sister received yesterday from a co-worker. I share this (with permission) because it ABSOLUTELY PERSONIFIES what I believe so deeply: OPERA is universal and touches so many lives in indescribable ways. PLEASE read this ... and carry on believing (just like the Royals!!!) So we hear our 15 year old, screaming last night, YES YES YES YES!!! What? We asked him. Joyce is singing at the World Series! First of all, we were dying laughing that he referred to your sister as Joyce! Then, all night, as he is doing homework, he is listening to YouTube videos of her singing, some pieces over and over again. After his homework, he was listening to her videos and trying to play along with the piano. Alex is our rough-and-tumble, jock, 15 year old. We were marveling/smiling/laughing last night. This year has brought him to love and appreciate choral music, chamber music and opera music. He spent 25 minutes talking to his dad about the technical skill involved and how so many people just dont understand how amazing her voice is. He was truly moved! I still have goosebumps from the whole night, it was just one of the best nights as parents we have ever had. Tell your sister thanks and she has new fans! Tara
