Amidst the end number of unresolved issues and a chaotic administration that Goa finds itself enveloped in, Kewal Kumar Sharma who took over as Chief Secretary on New Year’s Day may be our ray of hope. He is no stranger to Goa. A 1983-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre he was first posted in Goa as Deputy Collector at Margao, a post he held from 1st August 1985 to 1st June 1987. It is when he met his life partner to be Ninette Vas who was then a practicing lawyer in Margao. A decade later he was once again posted in Goa as Revenue Secretary from 1st March 1997 to 7th October 1999. He was advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator before now being posted in Goa. Let us hope the much needed rule of law returns to Goa with our very own son-in-law at the helm of affairs. K.K Sharma who is due to retire on 28th February 2018 may be privileged ending up his very distinguished innings in Goa unless like many other upright officers he is unceremoniously air lifted out for not dancing to the whimsical tunes of the political bosses.
