Amiras bloodwork came back, and even though she is fighting this respiratory thing, she currently has an immune system to fight it with. To be able to begin the next phase of chemotherapy on Tuesday, she had to have at least 750. Her number came back at 3,900, and her platelets are up to 305,000. I never know what to expect from this little girl, one day she is playing and appears well, and I find out that shes at 300, this time she is sick and miserable, and I learn that her ANC is at 3,900. I know better than to know anything by looking at her, but still, she surprises me. We still have to leave, this doesnt change that, but it does mean we dont have to be so afraid of some things. We are still hopeful that her chest will clear and this virus will not progress into something more serious, but she has an immune system to fight with, and thats something I cant give or borrow or save up for, it is a secret she holds in her own body. The nurse said that even if she does run a fever and we have to go to the emergency room, it will simply be for the administration of an antibiotic, and she will not need to be flown down. Today, we have this and so much more to be thankful for. We all need some rest now, and then a great burst of focus and constructive energy that will last through all of tomorrow, good communication and relations with each other and some better packing than previous trips. This one is going to be a longer trip, always with an ideal and the surrender to an open-ended return date. 3,900. Thats good. Really good for now.
