Among the more amusing things I find in music are the rare occasions when artists cover their own earlier material and ends up (forgive the lack of a better term) kicking their own ass!! Such was the case in 1973 when The Isley Brothers released a refurbished version of Whos That Lady a track they originally cut 9 years earlier. Their fresh take on the arrangement and the addition of Hendrix tutored, younger brother Ernie led to a result which was nothing less than a landmark recording. So much so that few remember the slinkier, smoother, and slightly subversive original. Heres a refresher.
