Amr Ali I just had an epiphany! Beside Abu Mongar Island there - TopicsExpress

Amr Ali I just had an epiphany! Beside Abu Mongar Island there is a congregating ground for the Morgan fish. I think I have a plan to save them and also make it an environmentally friendly food source and get some more fisherman off illegal fishing and into eco-tourism programs. So first a short overview: Morgan is VERY tasty and also abundant. (I cannot remember the English name) Abu Mongar has no use for diving since it is a sandy bottom and poor visibility. This combination of tasty fish and the soft bottom composition makes them a prime target for the trawl boats that jump in and poach them once every couple of years. This danger is compounded by the fact that divers do not go there and so the site does not fall under the direct protection of environmental agencies After reading an article about artificial reefs in Thailand, I found that we can beat 2 birds with one stone. By installing these concrete cubes, we can create an EXCELLENT shelter for smaller fish which the Morgan feed on while at the same time making it impossible for the trawlers to drag their nets for fear of them getting destroyed. The main benefit will be that the trawlers will not have access to them anymore.
