Amy asks: Hi. I have fibromyalgia and Ive been researching peoples opinions about it on the Internet, and theres something I cant figure out. I understand the impulse to suspect its a fake disease (no clear test for it, etc.). But I DONT understand why the people who think fibromyalgia is fake get so hateful about it. What stake do they have in other peoples sickness or lack thereof? What do yall think this is about? To some extent it seems like men accusing women of being lazy or hysterical, but surely theres more going on. Any thoughts on this are interesting to me.
