An 11-month-old German Shepard named Rocky is recovering after apparently chewing off his own foot to escape being chained. Veterinarians in Orange County believe Rocky had a chain wrapped around his foot so tightly and for so long that he literally chewed his foot off to free himself from the confinement and the pain. When his owners surrendered Rocky to a shelter last weekend, his foot was gone and his leg was so badly infected, surgeons had to remove it in order to save the puppys life.
