An 80F day here at the ranch, and time to manage one of the hives - TopicsExpress

An 80F day here at the ranch, and time to manage one of the hives that was particularly busy the other day. I popped the top to make sure they had room to roam, as overcrowding can lead to swarming. With the very mild season we are having, and noting the queen laying at the normal rate I would associate with springtime, I decided to pull a couple of frames of honey out and replace them so they can continue doing their thing without thinking it is time to split. We have a bunch of odd frames Ive pulled stacked in the unfailing tub, so these two had to go into the extractor until we get around to processing. My taste tester judged this honey to be fine indeed (and warm!) She also got some on her hands while getting the frames into the extractor. Luckily, we have cleaning help for that.
