An Afghan Commando conducts a security operation in Helmand Province Oct. 26, 2014. The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) now have overall responsibility for security in Helmand Province. The ANSF have conducted complex planning across all security pillars of the government, integrating the Afghan National Army and Afghan Air Force (AAF) with the Afghan National Police and other local Afghan police units. Because of the competence, resolve and combined skills of the ANSF, insurgent networks have become ineffective in Helmand Province. As Regional Command Southwest ends its mission and ISAF transitions to Resolute Support in 2015, NATO will link the ANSF in Helmand to an advisor team in Kabul that will continue to support institutional development and sustainment.
