An American Devotee Mr. Spencer asked Sri Sri Thakur, "Moving on the path of Lord the Good, one has to undergo many hazards and sufferings; why so? Sri Sri Thakur answered, "Sufferings are not the whole shebang; we suffer due to our own obsession of complexes. And in fact, HE (Lord) is not responsible at all for that. HE bestows the Wine Of Life. When we shall attain that, we never feel that HE has dragged us into suffering. There remains HIS very blessing within the temporary hazard and suffering in which HE pushes us only in order to remove the obsession. If we do not face them, we can never improve. It is better to be an unhappy child of the Kingdom Of Light than to be a happy child of the Kingdom Of Darkness where there is no peace of inner being. Animals come with such kind of livelihood; such life is not for mankind. This is not written in the deeds and documents of the Providence. We will hang on for ever once we have accepted and surrender to HIM, and will face however much oppositions or adversities that might come in the way of adhering to HIM— such fortitude should be needed. As the maxim is, Hato waa praapsyasi swaragang, jitwaa waa bhokshyase maheem, i.e., die, and you will win heaven; conquer, and you enjoy sovereignty of the earth. It is easier to die for Lord than to live for HIM. Live for Lord and enjoy life."
