An American author and investigative journalist has said that al-Qaeda is basically “the construct of the United States that was corresponded and trained in Afghanistan.” US President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that the “core of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan is on the way to defeat.” He made the remarks during a speech at Camp Pendleton in California less than a week after the US State Department issued a global travel alert for US citizens, warning that al-Qaeda might be planning “to conduct attacks” by the end of August. “Whether it’s President Clinton or President George W. Bush and now President Obama, they’ve always pulled the al-Qaeda card, trump card, when they need it,” said Wayne Madsen. The US closed 21 embassies and consulates in the Middle East and North Africa on Sunday due to the State Department’s warning over a possible terror attack by al-Qaeda. A department spokesperson, Jen Psaki, announced on Sunday that US embassies and consulates in 19 cities would remain closed through August 10. “Right now we’re hearing all this concentration on al-Qaeda from Mr. Obama because the National Security Agency spying is under a lot of pressure from members of Congress and from some in the media so they had to restore al-Qaeda as a major threat,” said Madsen. “This is the covert nature of the US false flag operations that have been taking place prior to 9/11 and now over a decade after 9/11,” he added.
