An Anti-Cop March On My Own Street Suddenly, I thought I heard - TopicsExpress

An Anti-Cop March On My Own Street Suddenly, I thought I heard a riot and rushed to my window and there they were: About one hundred angry, quick-marching, growl-chanting people in the streets: “NYPD-KKK-How Many Kids Did You Kill Today?” Old sixties chants plus this: “The people united will never be defeated.” They carried signs which all said the same thing. At least twenty police officers kept up with them on foot on the sidewalk, twenty officers who could not stop other crimes, twenty officers forced to guard the neighborhood from what could easily become a riot, a looting, or a lynch mob. It is pitch black outside. These marchers want action and they want it now. Someone is behind these non-stop marches. I hope we all get to find out who that might be. These chickens have come home to roost, the paradigm that no longer pits workers against bosses but only men of color against white cops, white folk. I stand with the cops who protect our fair city, I stand with law and order. I also genuinely oppose racism. One really can walk and chew gum at the same time.
