An Argument for Self Government: If You Were King - Larken - TopicsExpress

An Argument for Self Government: If You Were King - Larken Rose Suppose, for a moment, that you are one of those pesky do-gooders seeking to make Australia or even the world a better place through the power of government. Suppose you have the idea that, if you were given enough control, you would know exactly what to do to fix everything and please everyone. You would somehow know what is in the best interest of every individual under your authority. Here lies the inherent problem with centralised authority; it is perceived as the legitimate use of force to implement the vision of one (whether it be a Monarch, dictator, political party, or a coalition of organisations) on a collective of individuals with their own values and interests. Not everyone will want to be part of that vision, let alone pay for that vision and the privileges the elite receive from it. Even if you had good intentions, by accepting this position of supreme power you would be immediately violating the Natural Rights of your subjects - even if you chose to do nothing. You own yourself and your property, as much as the next person owns themselves and their property; undue infringements of these principles are forms of aggression. Freedom depends on our capacity to be responsible for our lives and how we interact with those around us. If an idea cannot be accepted and maintained voluntarily or consensually, is it really worth suppressing or extinguishing human life to impose? The initiation of force is not the answer. https://facebook/TrueLibertyAU
