... An Atlanta music critic recently accused the Atlanta music scene of being painfully homogenous. Apparently this critic has yet to hear Greg Williams, a Savannah singer and songwriter and frequent visitor to Atlanta. Williams, who in the past has opened for Mojo Nixon and Warren Zevon, is anything but typical, in everything from his appearance, to his sound, to his sentiments. He is a walking paradox. He has a face that would give Pythagoras fits - all sharp ridges and acute angles. He is built like the starting defensive end of the Chicago Bears, but he is soft spoken and possesses a singing voice that is one minute as high and sweet as a choirboys, then as deep and gravelly as an authentic bluesman the next. The melodies of his songs range from the gentleness of a slow running stream to full throttled pulsating rock. So just when you think you haved him pegged as yet another guy with the acoustic guitar, he breaks out the Tele and gets funky and nasty!... Acoustics Magazine
