An Austin man faces charges following an assault involving baseball bats in Austin. Police were called to a home on East Oakland Avenue just before four o’clock Wednesday afternoon on a report of an assault. By the time they arrived, three vehicles had left the scene. A short time later, two of the vehicles were located at the Meadows West apartments, on the west edge of Austin. Police set up a perimeter and arrested 26 year old Randy Rocha of Austin. He was held on charges of first degree burglary, second degree assault and interference with an emergency 9-1-1 call. He was also wanted on a felony warrant from Dodge County and a misdemeanor warrant from Steele County. The case remains under investigation, but police chief Brian Krueger said Thursday that the incident may have been caused by a rent issue or something involving the current and former residents of the address on East Oakland. Krueger said one person at that address was assaulted, but did not require medical attention. Two other people were arrested at Meadows West, a 19 year old Austin man and a 29 year old Austin woman. Both were arrested on probation violations. Police Chief Brian Krueger was not sure whether the two were at the address on East Oakland Avenue at the time of the assault.
