An Eid without Justice, written for the Warriors ( 28th Ramadhan 1435) Dear Believing Warriors, Today I remember the deaths of too many of you and what you have sacrificed, What is meant to be holy Ramadhaan, was also a bleeding July! Too many sad farewells to martyrs old, young and too young For compassionate eyes not to care. Too many white cloths stained red For empathetic hearts to bear. And so, the words Al Widaad Ya Ramadhan this year seems all too soon and sad how many goodbyes has our one nation had? I could not think of the Eid treats, Knowing what you will not eat. I could not think of dressing up my kids, Knowing yours wore their last of white. When I receive my husband after mosque I shall wonder how many of you will not And as I embrace my parents on Eid day, Who will you orphans hold onto in that way? I cannot think how we will greet and smile Knowing your tears have bled for the longest while So Kashmir, So Egypt and Burma So Afganistan, So Sudan and Syria So all who are at war with one another And especially today for the people of Gaza. Know that what i say comes from my soul without your freedom no Eid will feel whole, But I shall be satisfied with Allahs Might And remember you when the moon we sight. Because of you I shall learn to be content Because of you I shall try to make amends. For you I shall make every moment count But you will be on my mind all day without a doubt. And when Eid has passed and the new month is here, Thats when my fight for you restarts, do not fear! So, if you should find your heart aches and your body needs a rest Please know you are never forgotten Because to see you home and free I WILL TRY BETTER THAN MY BEST? YOU ARE ACKNOWLEDGED AND LOVED
