An Exploration of the Theory of Mind Were all mind readers to a certain extent. Using social context clues we can get an idea of what other people are thinking, and it is a sophisticated process that most of us are unaware of. As a Mentalist, I see behind the scenes of whats really going on during a performance, while simultaneously managing the perceptions of the audience. This is how I can create incredible demonstrations of seemingly psychic powers. With this demonstration, it gives the audience the same behind the scenes view I have during a show, and they get to see what goes into creating an experience for a single volunteer. At the same time, the audience can imagine themselves in her shoes, and see the experience from her vantage point. The ability to put ourselves in someone elses experience is called the Theory of Mind. Its a sophisticated ability that many of us take for granted. With the demonstration we also explore the idea that our brains build maps of our reality and operate off those a priori structures more than from direct experience. The gap between what we think is going on, and what is actually going on, is where magic lives. A mentalist creates a context for logical assumptions that are later shown to not be true. That goes for every trick, routine, and demonstration youll ever see a mentalist do. Mentalists are masters at managing experiences in order for you to make assumptions about what is going on (the hanger is now free from my hands), that do not, in fact, line up with whats actually happening (the hangar is already on your arm). I hope you enjoy the demonstration of fascinating psychological principles at work, and enjoy watching a wonderful volunteer do a great job with experiencing the unknown! #Mentalism #Psychology #TheoryOfMind #CognitiveScience #Science #Mind #Brain https://plus.google/101983548921854240517/posts/GuHiHyGdRKK
