An Important day to remember----- On 16th October, 1994, I was sitting in my clinic, NOT a single patient around. My fees was Rs 5 only, but hardly someone used to come for consultation. In the evening one gentleman came, the first patient after 3 days. He had pain in knee. He gave me Rs 5 RELUCTANTLY and said that he had some twist in knee last evening and he wants some medicines for ONE DAY only. I told him to get an X ray done, but he refused bluntly. He said that Dr Moti is out of town. He has gone to Delhi to see a daughter of a very high profile politician. He is expected in town next day by MORNING FLIGHT and after wards he will get final treatment there. I prescribed medicine and then went on scratching my head... Who is Dr Moti????? I couldnt recollect... I asked some persons, then I came to know that he is a TRADITIONAL BONE SETTER with a very good cliantage. I couldnt sleep the whole night.... Thinking, what is the use of me being an orthopedic surgeon???? Next day, I went to his place.Lots of 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers were parked, some with red beacon light. People were going inside for treatment. Even I wanted to go, but I was told that number is full. I will get number for next day. I paid the money. Next day , again I was there. When I went there,,,, What a mela???? People from all section waiting. I kept on watching that SUPPOSED TO BE DOCTOR activities for more than 1 hour. The way he was convincing his patients was unbelievable. -------- That day I realized,,,,, there is some ART of practice,,,,,,,, which is more important than SCIENCE of practice. ******* Friends, This is for all young Doctors and may be other professionals too,,, who soon get frustrated so early in life.... Develop the art in yourself YOU LEARN WITH AGE AND EXPERIENCE and then you all will shine . Sky is the limit
