An Invitation God Can’t Resist 2 Chronicles 5:12-14 “And the Levites who were musicians…stood at the east side of the altar playing cymbals, harps, and lyres. They were joined by 120 priests who were playing trumpets. The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the LORD with these words: ‘He is so good! His faithful love endures forever!’ At that moment a cloud filled the Temple of the LORD. The priests could not continue their work because the glorious presence of the LORD filled the Temple of God” 2 Chronicles 5:12-14 (NLT). What I find so interesting about these verses is that the presence of God was not visibly displayed in the Temple until the very moment the Israelites began to wholeheartedly worship Him with cymbals, harps, lyres, trumpets, and by lifting their voices in joyous praise and thanksgiving. Their enthusiastic, heartfelt worship was an invitation for God to join them in a very real way—and He did. And it’s the same today: Our passionate, heartfelt worship of God is an invitation for Him to fill our hearts with His divine glory, to permeate our souls with His unfailing love. And that’s one invitation that God can’t resist. ~Randy & Trena Reed
