An Italian friend of mine asked about the origins of Thanksgiving, so I gave my explanation: When the pilgrims first came to the US they thought they were finding a paradise ruled by Jesus, so they didnt bring food and tools with them to sustain themselves. So they were starving. The Indians brought them some turkeys and corn. It was the last time the white man thanked the Indians, and were still celebrating our experience as open-handed moochers.
