An Open Letter to the Supervisor of Marbletown, NY. I have been - TopicsExpress

An Open Letter to the Supervisor of Marbletown, NY. I have been a customer and supporter of Hopped Up Cafe in High Falls, NY. I have got to know the team and their business and they are well liked and responsible business owners who have worked tirelessly to build a successful business in High Falls. This is not easy as many businesses before them have proven. I recognize that there may be many facts to this story that we are unaware of but to the outside observer it seems ridiculous that the town would not engage with a business owner and try to resolve an issue before shutting them down. I think, as an elected official, that you have a responsibility to explain this action. What exactly are the charges or complaints against the Hopped Up Cafe? Where did these charges originate? This business has been operating for 3 years so what suddenly changed? Why was no attempt made to come to a mutually beneficial agreement between the business and the other parties? Why was no warning or due process given to the business before action was taken? A lot of people are puzzled and angry about this decision. Without an explanation from you they are privy to hear say and conjecture and already the internet is full of misinformation. A clear statement of what happened and why will help prevent both legal and community action against the town and your position and role specifically. Discussion and dialogue with the business owners themselves will also go a long way to help this community understand your decisions and actions and reduce the volatility of the situation. There are few businesses in High Falls or Marbletown I would fight for but this is one of them....and I know I am not alone in this.
