An ageing population means pensions will cost an extra €200m - TopicsExpress

An ageing population means pensions will cost an extra €200m each year for the next 10 years - making a total of €2bn extra by 2026. By one calculation contained in the documents, a cut of €8.50 per week per pensioner would only offset the ever-rising costs of more pension claims. A €1 cut per pensioner each week would only yield less than €20m in savings and other cuts, like abolishing the free television licence and curbing free travel, might have to be considered.
