An agroecosystem is an ecosystem on agricultural land. More comprehensively Wikipedia described an agroecosystem as The basic unit of study for an agroecologist, somewhat arbitrarily defined as a spatially and functionally coherent unit of agricultural activity, and includes the living and non-living components involved in that unit as well as their interactions. The human activity of agriculture lies at the very core of an agroecosystem and each unit includes the entire area influenced by that activity, affected by changes to the complexity of plant and animal species assemblages, changes to energy flows, and the net nutrient balance. In other words each unit of agriculture will involve a complex mix of soil, water, air, plants and/or animals, people, inputs, climate, habits and culture, including policy, and likely several other influences. This make the many farming systems not only complex and highly varied but potentially extremely dynamic and very, very interesting! I thought this explanation of a rather long and tongue-tying business name might begin to explain my professional existence and introduce the basic philosophy behind Agroecosystems work. In simpler terms: we support for your farm, estate, croft or small-holding on any and every part of the system of sustainable agriculture from fighting your corner in policy to undertaking surveys and form filling to offering farm labour relief services to let you fight your own corner (...or take a well deserved break) and just about everything in between.
